Saliva Alcohol Screening VS Breath Alcohol Screening

Both DOT and non-DOT alcohol testing can be done with either saliva testing or a breathalyzer.

Breathalyzer testing can be performed at your workplace by a trained member of your staff. We are a distributor of Lifeloc breath alcohol testing products and can provide the equipment and training for your staff. If the initial breathalyzer is positive, then a follow up confirmation test must be done between 15 and 30minutes

Saliva alcohol screening can be performed at local lab anywhere nationwide. We provide a lab slip for immediate testing , adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) specifications. If the saliva screening test is positive, a breathalyzer confirmation test is performed between 15 and 30 minutes after the initial test.

Types of Required Alcohol Tests

Employees in both DOT and non-DOT are subject to various tests, including Random Testing, Post-Accident Testing, Reasonable Suspicion Testing, Return-To-Duty Testing, and Follow-up Testing.

• Random Testing: the percentage of individuals tested per year depends on the specific DOT industry or drug free workplace policy

• Post-Accident Testing: Conducted within two hours, documenting delays, but not exceeding eight hours after the accident.

• Reasonable Suspicion Testing: Triggered by observable indicators, with trained supervisors making determinations.

• Return-To-Duty Testing: Required after a positive breath alcohol test, with results below 0.02% BAC.

• Follow-up Testing: Unannounced tests for employees with 0.04% BAC or higher, with a minimum of six tests in the first 12 months, extendable up to 60 months by the SAP
